Our Mission is to maximize the political power of Ohioans with disabilities through nonpartisan voter education, registration and participation of all people with disabilities at all levels of the election process.
We intend to grow Ohio's disability community into a credible voting block taken seriously by our legislators. Our voting power will be remembered when we call on politicians to advocate for our issues long after the election is over.
Elected officials regularly make decisions that are critical to the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families, including decisions about health care, education, community living, justice and civil rights.
If Ohioans with disabilities voted at the same rate as the rest of the population, voters with disabilities could elect the officials that make these important decisions.
ODVC is a member of the National Disability Vote Alliance, a national network of voting coalitions from around the country. The American Association of People with Disabilities in Washington, D.C. has initiated this Alliance. Regular conference calls are part of connecting with the other coalitions and an annual conference is held to share resources, leadership and motivation for our Election activities.
Organizations and Individuals are encouraged to join the ODVC (see the membership page).Members commit to participating in ODVC meetings, conducting their own voter registration, education and mobilization within their own organizations and to supporting the priorities and growth of ODVC.
